the u.s. district court in the eastern district of kentucky ruled against the biden administration’s title ix guidance, rescinding protections adopted in spring 2024 for student survivors, lgbtqi+ students, and pregnant and parenting students against harassment and discrimination. 

in response, emma grasso levine, senior manager of title ix policy and programs at know your ix (a survivor- and youth-led project of 喀麦隆vs巴西波胆分析 ), issued the following statement:

“the district court’s ruling is incredibly disappointing – and dangerous – for the students who spent years advocating for updated protections against sex-based discrimination. president biden’s title ix guidance defends survivors against retaliation, extends accommodations for parenting students, and ensures lgbtq+ young people can attend class without fear of harassment. with this ruling, the district court imperils countless young people’s right to a safe, inclusive education. 

despite the district court’s decision, title ix still stands. school administrators must go beyond the trump administration’s title ix rule – which rolls back students’ civil rights – and stand up for students by strengthening protections against discrimination at the school- and district-level. now more than ever, student activists need allies in the fight for an education free from harassment and violence.”
