like so many other women, i was in college, in a sexual relationship, and taking birth control. however, this method failed for me, and i found out on new year's day of 2000 i was pregnant. there really was no choice to be made.

i was a sophomore in college. i had just turned 20. i was not on the pill, but i was always careful to use condoms. one night i was with my boyfriend and the condom came off.
at the age of 17, i received my high school diploma, rented my first apartment, and met a young man i would soon marry.
one thing i knew for sure was that i did not want to become a single mother, so when we started having sex, marriage followed closely behind.
though i was raised in a catholic family and apparently encouraged to participate in a “right to life” poster contest as a child,i can’t remember a time in my life when i wasn’t pro-choice.
it has been nearly 2 years since i made that decision, and i have no regrets. i am so thankful that i was allowed to make a choice, and make the best decision regarding my long term health and well being.
