in 1974 i was having some physical problems that made it necessary for me to stop taking the pill. i began using other forms of birth control that failed when i became pregnant. i was not in a financial or physical position to have a child. abortion had just become legal in new york. the clinic i went to was clean, efficient and the people there were kind and knowledgeable. i did the right thing for me at the time. that is what choice is all about. i have always been frank about having an abortion. bringing these facts of life out in the open is the only way that any stigma around abortion will be a thing of the past.
