under a little known voluntary relationship law in minnesota it’s not considered rape unless “force” is used, which is subjective to the police. when i reported it to the police because he didn’t beat me i was told to stop making trouble for him.

the rape resulted in a pregnancy, i had an abortion because i knew i would hate that child and my rapist who the law protected would always be in my life. even after ovarian cancer at 27 resulted in never having children, i have never once regretted my decision. it allowed me to be free of my abuser and rapist.

no woman should ever have to live without the choice that i was given.
