it was the summer after i graduated from my college and i was on my way to law school. i was 20. i was being sexually irresponsible believing that “pulling out” would protect me. my cycle was irregular and i often missed my period all summer, so not menstruating did not mean anything to me.

in the fall, i found myself starting law school when i discovered that i was pregnant, about 11 weeks. i knew i was not going to have a child, so i went to the school health clinic, who directed me to a planned parenthood clinic who helped me through the procedure. it was only slightly more painful than bad menstrual cramps. i do not regret it not for a moment. i am happy that i was able to have a safe procedure.
