i was in my third year of graduate school when i found out that i was pregnant. i had been on various forms of birth control since i was a teenager, and unfortunately it failed at a difficult time in my life. i was struggling with anxiety disorder and was not ready to become a mother while still a student. my partner (now my husband) and i decided to terminate the pregnancy. it was not a difficult decision at all, and i was very lucky to have the support of my partner, doctors, and community. i am eternally grateful to planned parenthood for helping me navigate my options, and for the women’s health center nearby where i had the abortion. now that we are both out of school and on stable financial ground, my husband and i look forward to starting a family.
