after i discovered i was pregnant, my boyfriend at the time revealed he had been seeing another woman who he’d also impregnated. he was not interested in supporting me or a baby. i was devastated. i had not intended on having a child so young or without a partner. i had recently finished grad school and had little savings. i couldn’t turn to my conservative family for support, so i had to borrow money for the abortion from a friend. i opted for a medical abortion, and did the procedure at home by myself. it was a painful experience, physically and emotionally, but i do not regret it. that was more than ten years ago, and i know i made the right decision.
