it was 2006 and my relationship was still early and the birth control i had started was in the first month and had not kicked in yet, we were safe, but not safe enough. i was 25 and just out of college, barely getting by when i missed a period, we could not have afforded a child as we could not afford to take care of ourselves. i made an appointment at planned parenthood the day i found out and am so grateful for their existence and for the insurance i had that covered it. i have no regrets about my decision, as i would not be where i am now had i not made it.
