dannielle

i was teaching junior high in a small rural town. i was 2.5 mos pregnant & very excited about the baby. then, a strain of measles called rubella hit our school. because i got no rad or any symptoms, i thought i was ok.

however, at my regular pre-natal check up, my doctor discovered i did indeed have rubella.after checking with other doctors and our state university med school, he explained to my husband and me that there was over a 90% chance our baby would be severely physically and mentally deformed. after watching the struggles regular kids had in this world, we decided not to bring a baby in the world with a huge chance of real problems, so i had an abortion. i have never been sorry or regretted the choice.
