it’s finals week for my first semester of grad school, and i had my first abortion yesterday – on my first anniversary with my boyfriend. the past 48 hours have been a blur, though more out of stress for finals than for the decision i made. there was never any question about that.

i seem to have gotten pregnant despite having the 99% effective paragard iud. guess that makes me the 1%. either way, i’m incredibly lucky that i had the resources and support to troubleshoot and get back to normal, all within 72 hours. i plan on telling the story tonight during my stand-up gig. we’ll see how that goes.

in the meantime, it’s back to studying for finals…thanks, planned parenthood!
