my first pregnancy was an accident (do not trust “fertility awareness” methods!!), but at the time i was pro-life so i kept it, even though i ended up with deep depression and life-threatening illness. that pregnancy (and birth) turned me completely pro-choice, because there was no way i could conscientiously force something like that on someone else. so the next time i accidentally got pregnant (while using condoms and on birth control), there was absolutely no doubt in my mind, and i had an abortion. it was nothing like the scare tactics the birthers spread, and i’m so glad i did it.
