as an 18 year old pre-medical student, the last thing i thought would happen to me is pregnancy. but after three years of having (irresponsible) unprotected sex my boyfriend, the inevitable occurred.

i had dreams, big dreams: graduate with honors, become a surgeon, etc. and wanted children to happen after gaining stability in my career. also, my boyfriend was growing increasingly distant and due to my family’s financial condition at the time, i knew it would be nearly impossible to raise a child without having to work two minimum wage jobs and likely dropping out of college all together. rather than giving my child a sub-par life, i chose an abortion, allowing myself to mature before bringing another life into this world.
